The Polk County debris problem
If you live under oaks, you know the routine: clean the gutters in October, watch them fill back up by Christmas. Oaks drop catkins in spring, leaves in fall, and small branches every storm. Pine adds needles year-round that weave into a mat no rain can punch through. And every Florida roof sheds shingle grit that settles into a sandy slurry at the bottom of the trough.
A working gutter guard turns all of that into stuff that blows off the top instead of clogging the bottom.
Three guards, three jobs
Stainless micro-mesh: our default. A precision-woven stainless screen mounted under the shingle and over the gutter. Holes about the diameter of a sewing needle pass water and stop everything else. Stainless won’t rust, won’t UV-degrade, and won’t sag between hangers like aluminum mesh. Lifetime no-clog warranty available.
Reverse-curve: for tile and metal roofs where the shingle-tuck of micro-mesh doesn’t work. Water clings to a curved hood and follows it into the gutter; debris falls off the front. The right call when the roof type rules out flat-mounted guards.
Screen guards: bottom of the line. We install these on rental properties and budget jobs where the homeowner accepts a 3–5 year lifespan and routine top-off cleaning. For owner-occupied homes we recommend stepping up.
What it looks like installed
You won’t see the guard from the ground on most homes. It sits flush with the front edge of the gutter and tucks an inch or so under the first row of shingles. From a ladder, you’ll see a clean, slightly recessed mesh surface across the top of the trough. Debris that lands on it dries in the sun and the next breeze takes it off.
Our install process
- Clean the gutters first. We don’t put guards over a clogged system. Existing debris gets removed, the trough gets rinsed, and any standing water issues get diagnosed before the guard goes on.
- Inspect for shingle compatibility. Different shingle profiles need different mounting techniques. We carry the right hardware for asphalt, dimensional, tile, and metal.
- Cut and fit on-site. Guards are cut to length per run with no factory seams between hangers, same one-piece logic as the gutters underneath.
- Water-test. Hose every run before we leave to confirm flow.
