Gutter Guards

Gutter Guards That
Actually Work.

We install three guard styles, micro-mesh, reverse-curve, and screen, and pick the one that matches your debris and roof. We don't sell whatever's on the truck. We sell what stops your gutters from clogging.

The Polk County debris problem

If you live under oaks, you know the routine: clean the gutters in October, watch them fill back up by Christmas. Oaks drop catkins in spring, leaves in fall, and small branches every storm. Pine adds needles year-round that weave into a mat no rain can punch through. And every Florida roof sheds shingle grit that settles into a sandy slurry at the bottom of the trough.

A working gutter guard turns all of that into stuff that blows off the top instead of clogging the bottom.

Three guards, three jobs

Stainless micro-mesh: our default. A precision-woven stainless screen mounted under the shingle and over the gutter. Holes about the diameter of a sewing needle pass water and stop everything else. Stainless won’t rust, won’t UV-degrade, and won’t sag between hangers like aluminum mesh. Lifetime no-clog warranty available.

Reverse-curve: for tile and metal roofs where the shingle-tuck of micro-mesh doesn’t work. Water clings to a curved hood and follows it into the gutter; debris falls off the front. The right call when the roof type rules out flat-mounted guards.

Screen guards: bottom of the line. We install these on rental properties and budget jobs where the homeowner accepts a 3–5 year lifespan and routine top-off cleaning. For owner-occupied homes we recommend stepping up.

What it looks like installed

You won’t see the guard from the ground on most homes. It sits flush with the front edge of the gutter and tucks an inch or so under the first row of shingles. From a ladder, you’ll see a clean, slightly recessed mesh surface across the top of the trough. Debris that lands on it dries in the sun and the next breeze takes it off.

Our install process

  1. Clean the gutters first. We don’t put guards over a clogged system. Existing debris gets removed, the trough gets rinsed, and any standing water issues get diagnosed before the guard goes on.
  2. Inspect for shingle compatibility. Different shingle profiles need different mounting techniques. We carry the right hardware for asphalt, dimensional, tile, and metal.
  3. Cut and fit on-site. Guards are cut to length per run with no factory seams between hangers, same one-piece logic as the gutters underneath.
  4. Water-test. Hose every run before we leave to confirm flow.
Common Questions

Answered.
Plainly.

Do gutter guards really work?
Yes, when they're matched to your debris and roof. A stainless micro-mesh guard handles oak debris, pine needles, shingle grit, and roof moss. A reverse-curve guard works on tile or metal roofs where the flow needs to follow a curve. Cheap plastic screens are a different story; they trap as much as they shed.
Can I retrofit guards onto my existing gutters?
Usually, yes, if your gutters are sound, properly sloped, and the right size for your roof load. We inspect first. If the gutters underneath are already failing, putting guards on top is throwing good money after bad. We'll tell you straight.
Do guards mean I never have to clean my gutters again?
Close, but not zero. Micro-mesh guards still need a leaf-blow off the top once a year, usually 10 minutes from a ladder, no cleanup inside the trough. Properties under heavy oak canopy may want a quick rinse twice a year. Either way, it's a fraction of the time and risk of cleaning bare gutters.
What's the difference between micro-mesh and screen guards?
Screen guards have holes large enough to let pine needles, shingle grit, and small debris through into the gutter. Micro-mesh has holes about the diameter of a sewing needle, water passes, debris doesn't. Micro-mesh costs more up front and lasts decades; screen is cheap and gets replaced in 3–5 years.
Will guards damage my roof or void my shingle warranty?
No. Our guards mount inside the gutter or under the first row of shingles using a manufacturer-approved method that doesn't lift, pierce, or otherwise modify your roof. We can provide documentation for shingle warranty compliance if your roofer asks.
How much do guards cost?
Stainless micro-mesh runs $7–11 per linear foot installed, depending on the gutter size and how much access prep is needed. For a typical 160-foot home that's $1,100–1,800. Most homeowners decide it's worth it after the second or third weekend lost to gutter cleaning.
